Big Deal has a new record coming out next week entitled June Gloom! We are very excited for this new record, because from what we’ve heard it sounds a little bit like the pixies! Can’t wait!

Standby: The Big Chill Soundtrack

This standby is dedicated to my mom–who introduced me to this movie and so many other amazing movies. I would be super boring and know nothing about movies or music if it weren’t for you! Happy Mother’s day!!

Standby: The Babies

Please standby for a lovey dovey message regarding THE BABIES.

And it’s not fair
That you’re taken
And it’s unfair
That you’re spoken for
Life is funny
Life’s a laugh
It’s a drag
And I don’t care

Take my hand, alligator,

Standby: Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash “Girl from the North Country”

I know I totally dork out on this song, but its so good! Here is the video of the two of them playing the song on The Johnny Cash Show in 1969.

For she once was a true love of mine,

Standby: The Allah-Las

We love this record from the Allah-Las–in fact we just can’t get enough. It’s been playing in our cars and in our minds for weeks. Learn more about The Allah-Las HERE. I wish they would add a Denver date to their tour. Better yet a double bill of The Allah-Las and Nick Waterhouse!! Hey Allah-Las you can play at our studio and we will pay you in sandwiches and hi-fives!

Standby: Michael Kiwanuka

I’m not into conspiracy theories, but I’m pretty sure that Michael Kiwanuka built a time machine in 1970 and transported himself and his beautiful music to 2012.

You can learn more about him here, or you can come to term with your feelings and “like” him on Facebook here.

Looking forward to seeing what this year brings Mr. MK, we’ll be watching you…and your time machine closely. Very closely.

Standby: Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose is our latest crush from the UK. Even Vogue magazine is waxing poetic about her, and can you blame them?

She reminds me of Joni Mitchell…her voice…or maybe it’s her lovely hair? Regardless, you should check out her music here.

Also, if someone goes see’s her show can you buy us some of her custom made tea? We love tea. Tea beats coffee any day.

Standby: Frankie & the Heartstrings

Feeling bummed to be back at work/school after a long holiday away? Perhaps a little indie pop from Frankie & the Heartstrings will be just the thing to cheer you up. It worked for me this morning, well Frankie PLUS my giant cup of hot chocolate from 7-11. Did you know that you can get a giant hot chocolate from 7-11 for like $1.25? It’s ace.

To learn more about these Sunderland lads, and listen to tracks from their debut record go HERE.

Happy New Year Window Seat Friends!

Standby: Charles Bradley

Best part of the Charles Bradley concert….after his final song he walks offstage and into the crowd and begins to hug audience members. The audience hugs lasted for a good 20 minutes, I kid you not. If you get a chance to see Charles and the Menahan Street Band, go!
